Privacy and data handling
The short version: your inspection never leaves your device unless you export it yourself.
What is stored, and where
Inspections, item statuses, notes, severities and photos are stored in your browser using IndexedDB, on the device you used. A small key in local storage remembers which inspection to resume.
None of it is transmitted. There is no server-side account, no synchronisation, and no backup we hold on your behalf. If you clear your browser storage, or use private browsing and close the window, the inspection is gone.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your VIN, your notes or your photos. There are no third-party-hosted scripts, no trackers, no advertising, no consent management platform and no external analytics of any kind. The only code that runs is this application’s own bundle, served from this domain; it includes the Preact library compiled into it, and it makes no network request with your inspection data. Nothing you record leaves the device.
The camera is used only when you choose to attach a photo, through the standard browser file picker, and the resulting image is written straight to local storage.
VIN masking
A VIN identifies a specific vehicle and, indirectly, its owner. If you enter one, it is stored locally so the report can be matched to the right car, and it is masked by default in the exported report so that only the last four characters remain visible.
Exports you control
You can download a JSON backup of an inspection and import it again on the same or another device. That file contains everything you entered and the photos themselves, embedded as image data so the evidence still works on a device that has never seen this inspection. It is therefore as sensitive as the inspection itself, and larger than a plain text file: treat it like any other personal document. The VIN inside it is masked by default.
Printing or saving the report as a PDF is handled entirely by your browser and your operating system. Nothing passes through us.
Hosting and logs
The site is a set of static files. A web server that delivers static files ordinarily records standard request information such as an IP address and a user agent, for the purpose of operating and securing the service. That is a property of any web hosting, and it applies to the pages themselves, not to the contents of your inspection.
Deleting your data
Every inspection can be deleted from within the tool, which also removes its photos. Clearing site data in your browser removes everything this site has stored. There is nothing to request from us, because we do not hold a copy.
