What to check at a Tesla delivery

A Tesla delivery inspection starts with the paperwork — the VIN on the invoice, the colour, the wheels and the options you actually ordered — because the wrong car is a different problem from a car that needs a repair, and it is far easier to raise before a signature. From there the checklist follows one physical loop: front, driver side, rear, passenger side, wheels and underbody, the compartments and the charge port, then the cabin, the screen and connectivity, and a short road test.

Around 30 of the checks are marked essential, which is roughly ten minutes of work if the delivery centre is trying to hurry you; the complete path takes twenty-five to thirty. Every issue you record carries a severity and a photograph attached to the specific check, so what you leave with is a dated record rather than a percentage — and that is what makes a defect straightforward to raise on delivery day and still arguable three weeks later.
